Gujarat High Court came to be established on 1^st May 1960 as a result of bifurcation of the former State of Bombay into two States of Maharastra and Gujarat. Honourable Mr. Justice Sunderlal Trikamlal Desai was the first Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court.

Gujarat Engineering Research Institute (GERI) is one of the leading state research institutes in the country. It had the distinction of being adjudged as one of the best research stations in the country, by Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) in the year 1989.

The Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya (Gandhi Memorial Institution) is a museum and public service institution dedicated to preserve the work and memory and commemorate the life of Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi. It is located at Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, India on the banks of River Sabarmati.

The Gir Forests Reserve, created in 1913 to protect the largest of the surviving groups of Asiatic lions, was accorded sanctuary status in 1965. Several hundred Asiatic lions have been bred in the sanctuary since it was established.

120 years ago in 1897 AD first telephone was installed in Ahmedabad and telephone service began in the city.
