The Tana Bhagat movement began in April 1914 and lasted until 1919. Jatra Bhagat and Turia Bhagat formed a tribal movement in Chota Nagpur Plateau, currently in Jharkhand. Oraon Tana Bhagat Movement is another name for it.

Under the leadership of Tilka Majhi, the Tilka Majhi Revolt began in 1783. (jabra paharia). The goal of this uprising was to drive the British out of the region and protect tribal autonomy.

The Tana Bhagat Movement (1914 – 1920) was considered a prelude of the Birsa Movement. The movement’s key leaders were Jatra Bhagat and Sibu Bhagat.

Two Santal rebel commanders, Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu, assembled 60,000 Santhals and declared war on the East India Company on 30^th June 1855.

The Sardari or Mukti Larai Movement lasted from 1858 until 1895. The adivasis were the first people to clear the lands of Chota Nagpur, and as such, they had an innate right to unrestricted access to the city’s territory, according to the Sardar movement’s primary principle.

Raja Mukund Singh led the Ramgarh Revolt, which lasted from 1772 to 1778 AD. Ramgarh was invaded on 25^th October 1772, by Captain Jacob Camac of Chota Nagpur on one side and Tej Singh on the other.

The Paharia tribe lived in Rajmahal, Godda, and Pakur. Their uprising against the British is regarded as the first major uprising against the British in the history of tribal uprisings. In 1766, 1772 and 1781-82, this tribe revolted against the British on several occasions.

Kol uprising (1831-1832) was Jharkhand’s first well-organized and broad tribal revolt against the repressive administrative policies of zamindars, contractors, moneylenders, non-tribal merchants, and king’s agents.

Lt. Rook and Charles Morgan were dispatched to put down the uprising, but they were unsuccessful. As a result, the British declared Jagannath Dhal the ruler of Dhalbhum once more in 1777.
