Agricultural Revolutions
Indian Agriculture · कृषि क्रांतियां
📋Quick Overview
India has witnessed several 'revolutions' in agricultural production since independence. The most famous is the Green Revolution (1960s-70s) which transformed India from a food-deficit nation into a food-surplus one. Each revolution focuses on a specific agricultural sector — food grains, milk, fish, oilseeds, eggs, horticulture, meat, etc. Knowing the colour of the revolution, the sector it covers, and its key personality is the most important for competitive exams.
⭐
Most important for exams: Green (Food grains — Swaminathan), White (Milk — Kurien/Amul), Blue (Fish), Yellow (Oilseeds), Pink (Meat/Eggs — some say Pink=Meat, Silver=Eggs). Know all colours with sectors.
