Excretory System
Biology · उत्सर्जन तंत्र
📋Quick Overview
The excretory system removes metabolic waste from the body. Kidneys are the main excretory organs — they filter blood and produce urine. Each kidney has ~1 million nephrons (functional units). Urine formation: Glomerular Filtration→Tubular Reabsorption→Tubular Secretion. Other excretory organs: Skin (sweat), Lungs (CO₂), Liver (bile pigments).
📝Key Facts
- •Kidneys = bean-shaped, located below ribs on both sides of spine
- •Nephron = functional unit of kidney (~1 million per kidney)
- •Nephron parts: Bowmans capsule→PCT→Loop of Henle→DCT→Collecting duct
- •Urine = 95% water + 2.5% urea + 2.5% other waste
- •Dialysis = artificial kidney for kidney failure patients
- •Urea is made in liver from amino acid breakdown
