The respiratory system enables gas exchange — taking in O₂ and releasing CO₂. Air path: Nose→Pharynx→Larynx(voice box)→Trachea(windpipe)→Bronchi→Bronchioles→Alveoli(in lungs). Gas exchange occurs in alveoli (tiny air sacs with thin walls and blood capillaries). Breathing is physical (inhale/exhale); Respiration is chemical (glucose+O₂→CO₂+H₂O+Energy/ATP).
