Sendai & Hyogo Framework
Disaster Management · सेंडाई और हयोगो ढांचा
📋Quick Overview
The global community has adopted two key international frameworks for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR): the Hyogo Framework for Action (2005-2015) and its successor, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030). Both were adopted at World Conferences on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) held in Japan. The Sendai Framework is the current operative global DRR roadmap, with 7 specific global targets to be achieved by 2030.
⭐
Sendai Framework 2015-2030 was adopted at the 3rd WCDRR in Sendai, Japan (March 2015). Its key goal: 'Substantially reduce disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health.' UNDRR (Geneva) is the secretariat.

📝India & Sendai Framework
- •India was an active participant in Sendai Framework adoption; India's NDM Plan (2016) aligns with Sendai priorities
- •CDRI (Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure): India launched at UNGA Sept 2019; aligns with Sendai Target D; co-led by India + UN
- •AAPDA MITRA scheme: NDMA scheme for training community volunteers in disaster response — aligns with Sendai Priority 4
