📋Quick Overview
Haryana was formed on November 1, 1966 by the Punjab Reorganisation Act. It has a unicameral legislature with 90 Vidhan Sabha seats, 10 Lok Sabha and 5 Rajya Sabha seats. Chandigarh (a Union Territory) is the shared capital with Punjab. The state has had diverse political leadership including the powerful Chaudhary families (Devi Lal, Bhajan Lal, Om Prakash Chautala), and more recently Manohar Lal Khattar (BJP, 2014–2024) and Nayab Singh Saini (BJP, 2024–). Gurugram is the financial/IT hub while Faridabad is the largest city.
