📋Quick Overview

ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation) is a statutory body established under the ESI Act, 1948 under the Ministry of Labour & Employment. It provides comprehensive social security to workers and their families — covering medical care, sickness, maternity, disability, and unemployment benefits. ESIC runs its own network of hospitals and dispensaries. It applies to factories and specified establishments with 10+ employees earning ≤₹21,000 per month (₹25,000 for persons with disability).

ESIC Contribution Rates: Employee pays 0.75% of wages; Employer pays 3.25% of wages. Total contribution = 4% of wages. The DG of ESIC and Board of Directors are chaired by the Union Labour Minister.
