📋Quick Overview

Madhya Pradesh is a rich tapestry of art forms — from tribal Gond paintings to classical music associated with the legendary Tansen of Gwalior. The state's crafts include UNESCO-recognized Chanderi silk, the iconic Maheshwari saree revived by Ahilya Bai Holkar, and the natural-dye Bagh print. Khajuraho's UNESCO temples display India's finest Nagara architecture, and folk dances like Karma and Rai are integral to the state's cultural identity.

Tansen — greatest Dhrupad vocalist — was born in Gwalior; Tansen Samaroh (Tansen Music Festival) is held annually at his tomb in Gwalior

Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees both have GI tags — Chanderi from Chanderi (Ashoknagar), Maheshwari from Maheshwar (Khargone)
