📋Quick Overview

Each state has an armed wing of its police force separate from the regular civil police, used for crowd control, riot response, VIP protection, disaster relief, and election duty. Bihar has the Bihar Military Police (BMP); UP has the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) — the largest state armed police force in India. The CRPF has a specialized unit called the Rapid Action Force (RAF) for anti-riot operations. Knowledge of these forces is critical for Bihar Police and UP Police exams.

PAC (UP) = India's LARGEST state armed police force. RAF = CRPF's anti-riot specialized unit. BMP = Bihar's armed police wing. IRB = India Reserve Battalions sanctioned by Centre to states.
