📋Quick Overview
The Indian Penal Code (IPC) 1860 was India's main criminal law for 163 years. It was replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, effective from July 1, 2024. Police exams now ask BOTH old IPC section numbers AND new BNS section numbers. This chapter covers the most frequently asked criminal sections covering murder, theft, robbery, rape, dacoity, cheating, sedition, and more.
⭐
KEY: BNS 2023 replaced IPC 1860 from July 1, 2024. IPC Sec 302 (Murder) → BNS Sec 103. IPC Sec 420 (Cheating) → BNS Sec 318. Both must be memorized for 2024+ exams.
