📋Quick Overview

India's housing and urban schemes aim to address the housing shortage of ~11 crore units (urban) and ~29 lakh units (rural). PM Awas Yojana (Urban + Gramin) targets 'Housing for All' through four approaches. Smart Cities Mission aims to create 100 model cities with world-class infrastructure. Swachh Bharat Mission has been transformative in sanitation.

Swachh Bharat Mission: Launched October 2, 2014 (Gandhi's 145th birth anniversary) by PM Modi at Rajghat, New Delhi. Target: Make India Open Defecation Free (ODF) by Oct 2, 2019 (Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary).
